A Residency in the Woods

This September, I’ll be embarking on a residency in the woods: a month-long project that promises to be both challenging and deeply rewarding. For years, my work has been rooted in careful observation, whether in portraiture, brand photography, or my previous projects.

The residency offers a chance for me to slow down, to let the natural world guide my lens, and to explore how stillness and presence can shape the way I see and create.

The project, called Stillness and Light, is inspired by the simple act of being present: noticing the shifting of light, the textures around me, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. It’s a chance to step out of the usual pace of life and immerse myself in a rhythm dictated by patience, observation, and reflection.

Throughout the residency, I’ll be documenting the process and and exploring how photography can promote a sense of wellbeing. I’ll also be sharing glimpses of my work and reflections as it unfolds.

This is an exciting step after my previous project and book, Hidden in Plain Sight: A Photographic Journey into Cornish Mines, and I can’t wait to see where this new chapter leads. Stay tuned for images, insights, and stories from the residency as they begin to take shape.
